Chateau La Rose St-Germain Medoc
Located in the commune of Saint-Germain d'Esteuil, Château La Rose St Germain overlooks the Gironde from one of the highest points in the Médoc. It is a family estate:
1946: Ernest Broussard is the owner. He is a grower-member at the co-op Les Vieux Colombiers winery in Prignac-en-Médoc.
1956: 1st harvest
1962: Daniel Broussard takes over part of the vineyard
1973: Bernard Broussard
1985: The château name is created by Bernard Broussard and his wife. They were inspired by the roses planted at the ends of the vines and the name of the commune to create the château name. They built a winery and expanded the vineyard by buying vines from uncles. The vineyard now covers 4 hectares.
2001: Corinne Broussard, the daughter, is 20 years old. She begins to farm a few hectares.
2010: Corinne Broussard takes over the entire estate.
2011: The vineyard covers 11 hectares, and the harvest is transferred to the co-op Les Vignerons d'Uni-Médoc.
Corinne Broussard is the 3rd generation and the 1st woman to head the vineyard. Today, she oversees all the work on her old vines, planted in narrow, high-density rows on the gravelly soils of the northern Médoc. In this way, she perpetuates the family tradition begun some fifty years ago to produce a dense, complex wine with pure, fruity aromas.
