Quebrada De Las Flechas
Calchaqui Valley

Torrontes grape made a huge splash in the wine world when it was included in the list of examinable varietals for the Master Sommelier exam. One region that produced the best example of Torrontes was Salta, Argentina. And the uniqueness of Salta produced another shock. It receives the sunlight of sub-tropic due to its proximity to the equator but temperatures are low because of extremely high altitude (up to 7,000 feet) Andes mountains create rain shadow effect making it one of the driest wine regions in the world.  Quebrada Torrontés Reserva must be the most floral wine we have ever tasted. It offers the floral notes of Grandiflora roses, the citrus aroma of grapefruit, and a mineral hint.
Plenty of lemon-rind, white-peach, and green-apple aromas follow through to a rich, firm, and fresh palate and a long, lingering finish. A wonderful example of Torrontés is from high-altitude vineyards (6000 feet) in Salta. Only the oldest vines from 1 ha plot are used for Reserva.
